How I love, Oh My Love!

East London is home to too many of my favourite fashion brands - definitely a place to go for some seriously enviable street style - and I imagine, outfit inspiration on every corner!

Oh My Love began selling at Markets in the North of England (all good things come from the North right? ;)), but I first fell in love with Oh My Love when I discovered them on Topshop online back in 2010. Soon, they were being stocked in stores nationwide and if, like in my case, ASOS is one of your most visited, you may have noticed their launch the following year. They are dedicated to high quality clothing; working closely with local manufacturers and producing 80 % of their garments in London, allowing them to react quickly to emerging trends and the needs of their happy customers. So I think it's safe to say that Oh My Love have, in other words, smashed it. Exciting, fresh and edgy, I think we'll be seeing a lot more of them (and I'm excited!). If you haven't checked out their blog; do, because it's quirky, inspirational and visually, beautiful!

In true nature of my blog, here are some of my (many) favourite pieces. Check out the rest of their website, you will not be disappointed!

Peaches Geldof

Yesterday, the sudden and unexplained death of 25 year old Peaches Geldof left the world in shock. A beautiful and talented writer, presenter, model and most importantly wife and mother, my thoughts are with her family at this deeply traumatic time.

These photographs are tribute to Peaches Geldof - a beautiful lady never short of edgy and individual style.

My Favourite Prom Dresses (if I was 16 again)

Prom was a big deal at my High School; planned for months, talked about for the entire year and used as a threat against us by our head of year if we didn't behave - we apparently were not a great year - our year 10 trip to the cinema and bowling had been cancelled the year before so it was definitely a threat we were all taking seriously. For those with boyfriends, it was easy; you go with your boyfriend. That was a given. The main and only question had changed from, 'will he ask me to prom?' to, 'will he ask me to sit at his table at prom?' And for those without boyfriends, well, the hunt was on and it was every gal for herself. If you hadn't been asked by two weeks prior - you and your mate were going together, cos who needs lads eh?

For the girls, there was A LOT of decisions to be made - hair, make up, shoes, and erm, did I mention, THE DRESS? Maybe prom was invented to give us girls a little taster (emphasis on the word little) of what planning a wedding might be like. I searched high and low for a dress and I hated them all. I'm not even exaggerating, I hated them all. The pressure was on for me especially since my date's parents had spent £500 on his Ted Baker suit, I could hardly rock up looking basic. So I set to work a good few months before and eventually, I discovered Whistles. Need I say more? I tried it on and it was SOLD.

Looking back I'd say I could probably have done with the 10 rather than the 8 but apart from that, I was in love. (Far left). Also, the lady at the front with the flowers is the ice-cream lady who kindly drove us to prom in the ice-cream van - a decision made mainly because we tried to book a limo too late and also because we thought it would be pretty funny, which it was. Oh and did I mention the unlimited supply of ice cream?!

So due to my long and exhausting search, I was surprised to notice a lot of beautiful prom dresses out there at the moment. Here are my faves.

10 Problems only a Northerner living in the South will understand...

Just to clarify, I love living down South, but us Northerners can have a bit of a tough time getting accustomed to the Southern ways. I hope you can relate!

1.Having to repeat yourself constantly...and having to explain what all your Northern slang means.

2.Queuing for the cloakroom on a night out, cos’ your Southern girls wanted to take their coats.

3.Watching One Day and wondering who on earth told Anne Hathaway that she could do a Leeds accent...but soon forgetting about this and just focussing on how fit Jim Strugess is once he loses the dodgy hair and gets a bit of stubble.

4. Getting upset and concerned when you go home and people say you sound ‘more Southern’.

5.Paying the same amount of rent for this up North,

as you would for this down South.

6.Obviously the fact you can’t get gravy on your mediocre Southern chips.

7.Getting used to saying dinner instead of tea.

8.Someone insulting the North…

9.Just wanting a bacon butty and a tea,

but getting this instead…

10. Ordering a ciddy black whilst your Southern friend orders a Strawberry and Lime Rekorderlig.
